Postdoc position in transport through graphene/topological insulators
University of Geneva

We are seeking for a highly motivated candidate to work on transport through nano-devices based on graphene or topological insulators. The candidate should have a PhD in physics, and some experience with at least some of the relevant experimental techniques (which include micro-fabrication, low-noise transport measurements, use of cryogenic systems). The position will initially be for two years; extensions are possible upon mutual satisfaction and availability of funds.

The work will be carried out in the group of Prof. Morpurgo, which is fully equipped for nano-device fabrication (available instrumentation includes electron-beam lithography, e-beam evaporation and RF-sputtering, an atomic force microscope, etc.) and for low-temperature transport measurements (Kelvinox 400 dilution refrigerator, He3 systems, several different superconducting magnets up to 15 T). The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with several PhD students and other postdocs already active in the same areas.

The academic environment at the University of Geneva is very stimulating, with many groups of top international level, working on the electronic properties of materials both experimentally and theoretically. Salaries are very competitive. The University benefits from being located in the center of the (very lively) city of Geneva, and –with a nice view on the Mt. Blanc– it is only a short distance from some of the most beautiful parts in the Alps.
